Kay,

You can see a difference when you also use the sysidms parameter
BUFFERSTAT.
Set once SQL_CACHE_ENTRIES=3D0 and look in the syslst in the buffer
statistics for the catalog.
Second job : set SQL_CACHE_ENTRIES=3D500.

Subject: SQL caching in local mode

I am trying to test SQL caching in local mode by using the new SYSIDMS
parameter ""SQL_CACHE_ENTRIES=3Dnnn"". I cannot see any difference in =
CPU
used, even when I execute the exact same query 10,000 times. Is there
something else I need to do to turn on SQL caching for local mode? Is
there any way to tell whether or not it is turned on in local mode?

Human Inference software and IDMS
"Hello,

We'd like to install Human inference software to achief 'phonetic' searching.
In our case we're running an old version of the HI software (version 2, fortran) at a BS2000.
Sinds we converting the Siemens IDMS to IBM, we must install a new version of the HI software.
A problem is that the software is programmed in C and issue's a #load SVC.
C programs are not the problem anymore, CA has a APAR for it: QO57490.
The SVC's are an still a problem.
My question is; Is there anyone running HI software within IDMS and if, is it running fine?
We are currently at IDMS 16.0 SP 3

Re: SQL caching in local mode
"SQL caching is used only for dynamic SQL to avoid the compilation and
optimization of same SQL statements over and over again. In static SQL a
compiled statement will be saved in an access module and therefore SQL
caching is not necessary.
