"We use sort exit reuse on small and medium unload/reloadss
for large unload/reloads we use tape and stepped reloads:
we sort each cartridge separately and then sort merge them
together for the next phase - 20-40% reduced sort time
we sort the output from DBL3 by area page range and feed the
various output file to concurrent area level DBL4 jobs - this cuts the
dbl4 step up to 80%. We have also sorted the dbl3 output for very large
areas by file page range - care must be used - no relocated records and
each file level (except the first file) dbl4 needs a 1 pg temp dataset
to lock - we also turn off dynamic allocation to prevent a file outside
the designated page range from being allocated ( we use culprit to
generate the sort commands and dd statements )
