Hardware question

Discussion created by ca.portal.admin on Jan 26, 2007

Hi folks.

Our DR site may be upgrading to a 2094 (Z) machine. We have been asked
by management to check on any problems with our various databases. Has
anyone moved to this hardware? Any gotchas for IDMS?

TIA

Jim

Re: Tape sort
"Hi Kay,

The last time I attempted to use tape work files with Syncsort, I was
informed that it no longer supports that option. If the reason for the
tapes is capacity, take a look at the MaxSort option.

Thanks,

Subject: Tape sort

I am trying to do a tape sort with SYNCSORT for the first time. This is
where you use tapes for the sortwork files. I am getting S80A and S878
(GETMAIN) errors. The problem appears to be with below-the-line storage
- it wants a ton of private region. Has anyone else successfully used
this feature?

Here is my JCL. CRTLRG uses virtual tape. We don't use real tapes much
any more. This is supposed to be transparent to the user, and it is for
everything else that I know of. But maybe that is my problem?

Hi,

Any experience or recommendation with Cobol / CICS programs updating IDMS
and DB2 data within the same program ?

Thanks
Maria

Re: TCP/IP Socket interface
"In a word ""Yes"".

You may want more detail? Our production use includes both mid-range
application to mainframe application, as well as mainframe to mid-range
communication. We are also using the IDMSJSRV listener for CA-Server
using TCP/IP driver in the DC region. No problems to date with any of
these scenarios. We have been able to decommission the USS region which
previously implemented the mainframe end of CA-Server, and drop the
CCILINE.

Cheers - Gary
