Thanks Mike -

I'm on contract in Maryland doing some 16.0 upgrades for a client.

I was on the phone with our INFOR account rep.

I guess we dropped support for CAS / DATA in 1997 and now we need it
back again.

I'm hoping to get the license re-instated again for something under a
trillion dollars.

From all the correspondence and phone conversations I've had, it sounds
like James Jackson is Mr. CAS / DATA now that Ed Blumstein is out of the
picture.

I'll check out our files again. I think each transaction is more than 3
lines.
Thanks for the warning.

"Mike -

I expect to be talking to the INFOR account rep tomorrow (he's out of town)
and he needs to review our old contract.

I'm concerned by your statement that you haven't been able to get the 16.0
version to work for two years because of the continuation line problem.
Did I interpret what you said correctly?

Two years seems like a long time for a problem that sounds like it should
have been solved in 2 weeks.
I must be over-simplifying this problem.

Can you provide more detail why the solution is long-time coming?

If you don't think it's appropriate for the list, you can EMAIL me directly.

Thanks.

Jon,
We use CAS/DATA to update CAS/AD with transactions in a batch flat file,
12+, 14+, 15+ worked fine but haven't been able to get it working for 16.0
and have been trying for 2 years. The product went from CA to SSA and
currently is INFOR. The 16+ version works ok unless the xaction in the
flat file has two or more continuation lines, ie. three or more lines in
the flat file. Here is the INFOR person I work with:

Hi Jon -

I am also going to R16 SP5(?) soon from 14.1 and we use CASDATA
extensively. SSA is the company that owns it and supports it. There
are changes that have to be done to make it work in R16 and they are
preparing a new install package for it. They have been bought by Infor
but you can reach them at:

QMF-Like utility for IDMS ??
"Hi Guys,

One of our clients wants a utility that is similar to the
DB2 QMF facility. Nothing excites an upper level
manager like instant color graphs from extracted data
on their own PC's.

Any third party product out there that's similar to QMF
that will work for IDMS ?

Thanks, Andy Daly

CV HANGS SOS
" We have a process that runs every two weeks, when it runs it hangs the
IDMS region. The storage pool 0 goes SOS and the IDMS clocks and then
the system needs to be recycled . The process is a client builder screen
scraper transaction that takes a file, with order numbers and fills in
the screen and hit enters. If we watch the CV you can see the ADSO
transaction starting and stopping. The only unusual thing we notice is
the storage in pool 0 keeps going up and even though the transaction
finishes and starts a new transaction. CA is looking at the dump and they
can see there is 191 allocations are all USER KEPT storage. and the task
are not active. They think there's a program that is below the line, but I
can't find it. Does anybody have any suggestions?

What release and SP are you running? Have you separated the storage
