Re:Mapping Problem

Discussion created by ca.portal.admin on May 29, 2007
Hello All:

On an IDMS 16.0 SP3 system when we de-compile a map the case (Upper,
Uplow)
is not honored. What I mean by that is most of the literals on the
screen
have lower Case characters in them, when we execute the application the
map
shows correctly with the lower case characters, but, when we de-compile
it to
source it is all in upper case, so when we migrate the map to another CV
using
this source the literals are all in upper case?

Is this a problem or are we missing something in the de-compile?

Re: Mapping Problem
"Bill

Is it possible someone edited the output of RHDCMPUT using the ISPF
editor without setting ""CAPS OFF""? This would convert the de-compiled
text to all upper case.

Just a possibility.

IDMS R16 SP5?
"Is anyone else in this fix?

I want to move from IDMS 14.1 to IDMS R16 but there have been several
hundred APARS since SP4 came out last summer. I really don't relish the
thought of doing a massive APAR accept - the amount of time would be
considerable and the chances of an error during the process is
non-linear (albeit, probably geometric rather than exponential). I have
been able to get management to hold off on the R16 install until SP5
comes along but it continues to get harder to convince them.

I have contacted CA several times and the SP5 issue dates continue
marching toward the elusive end of the rainbow (end of March then April
then May - I haven't tried recently but maybe end of June is a good
bet?).

Any advice from those that are waiting for SP5?

Re: IDMS R16 SP5?
">have you considered SP4 + only HIPER apars?

I have found that SC is a reliable portal for downloading fixes (i
remember compuserve when one had to down load 3 times to try to get
all of the zap bytes to agree due to garbage in the downloads via 16K
modem) - if you pop all the APARs in a pds (one APAR/member)- and
then create a standard APPLY jcl where the only thing that changes
within the JCL is the APAR #, then i have found it painless to
install many APARs ... (tedious, perhaps, but painless)

IUA Fall Workshop
"The IUA Fall Workshop will be held at CA's Herndon, VA. Education Center, beginning Monday, October 22nd and ending at noon on Wednesday, October 24th. The workshop will cost $249.00 USD.

As in past years, we will have 3 tracks: Application Programming, Database Administration and, in keeping with the 2007 CA World theme, IDMS Modernization.

The workshop will include presentations by users of IDMS developed specifically for other IDMS users and Product Direction Forums with CA executives. IDMS developers and tech support staff will also be on hand.

Please talk with your application and database managers, application programmers and database administrators to help us determine what topics should be presented and also, what their wish-list would be.

This will be the country's largest educational gathering of CA-IDMS users. Don't miss this exceptional opportunity to network with your peers and gain an innovative CA-IDMS education in application development, database administration and IDMS Modernization.

Registration information will be available on the IUA Home Page at http://iuassn.com <http://bull.tiburontech.com/exchweb/bin/redir.asp?URL=http://bull.tiburontech.com/exchweb/bin/redir.asp?URL=http://iuassn.com/> in the near future. Re: IDMS R16 SP5?
"Hi,

Based on this test fix: -
ftp://ftp.ca.com/apars/d8/pIDMS/r16.0/oOS/TD67818.txt

SP5 is based on January 2007 and should not be too much longer.
