Hello all,
In 2004 at the UKIUA Roadshow, Geoff Richardson (British Telecom) gave
this
presentation. At the end, it talks about how an IDMS application can
become
near 'impossible' to decommission/convert. Specifically, it says that
the
difficulty is compounded if you use all the features of IDMS. Our
Developers were very happy when I mentioned this :-)
However, as we know, many shops have successfully moved off IDMS.
I would love to hear some feedback on this, especially with regard to
the
things that we should ""not do"", so that it will be not difficult to
migrate
off IDMS. I'll advise our Developers to ""not do that stuff..."" ha ha ha
PS: We do not use the SQL option, and neither do we use any of the CA
web
interface options.
Thanks very much.
Mike.

Location of sample hot backup process
"Dear friends,
Reviewing the archives of the list, I have found several references to a
example hot backup process called BATCHCP or ONLINECP. I am trying to
track this down. I had thought that it was in the contributed software
library in the IDMS UA site, but it is not there.
Can anyone point me to this.

Module length report
"Does anyone have a CULRPIT report that lists dictionary modules (not
load modules) and their lengths?

Re: Module length report
"You could look at the dialog load moddule sizes to get some idea of
larger module source code.
