defining VSAM files to IDMS

I hate to bug you guys but I am at a shop where IDMS is pretty much dead
and there are no manuals available.

I'd like to define some VSAM KSDS datasets to IDMS and I know the steps
(create record in IDD, define schema, define subschema, change the
GLBLDMCL, change startup JCL) but due to lack of documentation and
examples, do not have proper syntax available.

A sample area, record, and set definition would be extremely helpful.

Also, once defined to the DMCL I assume that the VSAM file can be
allocated and de-allocated like BDAM files. I fso, then no change to the
startup JCL would be needed.

Any information would be very helpful.

Thanks

Tim Kupin

"Tim,

All of the manuals are out on the CA website. You can view them online
or download them. Go to the home page for IDMS.
