VTAM Logon and LTE auto task

Discussion created by ca.portal.admin on Aug 16, 2007
Hello All:

I have a client that has an LTE auto task tied to every terminal on the
VTAMLINE, it invokes an application that I don't have access to and even
when I
do have access to it you cannot get to the ENTER NEXT TASK CODE.

I would like to sign on to IDMS using VTAM and avoid this LTE auto task
by
going to a PTE and LTE pair that does not have the LTE auto task? Does
anyone
know if this can be accomplished other than defining a new VTAM line
and
Application id?

I already have access to this CV through CICS and TSO, but we are having
a
problem and I can't get in using CICS or TSO as they both use the
UCFLINE and
this line is hung up.

"Bill

If you:
know in advance which LTERM you will come in on, and
have access to the system CONSOLE,
you can ""signon"" thru the console by replying to
the outstanding message - SIGNON userid password
Then you can enter (if your user-id has the authority) by
again replying to the ""new"" outstanding message

DCMT Vary LTerminal logical-terminal-id ONline AUTOtask OFF

Hope this helps!

Re: S0C4 batch cobol IDMS
"Thanks Peter, we have NONCICS already in the cobol system parameters.

What I did was I compiled the program and removed the cobol compile options to make it compile like dev and test for just this one program giving us problems.

If I still have problems I'll have to check out the SSRANGE option Kirk spoke about.

Meanwhile, in the output, this is what I removed and then resubmitted the compile.
// PARM.COBOL='RENT,DYNAM,OPTIMIZE(FULL),NOADV,LIB,MAP,XREF,OFFSET'

This time I did not get the RC=04 in the cobol compile step like before.

It ran fine last night. We'll see.

Thanks to all for your great responses.
