Re: [IDMSVENDOR-L] 2 PDE copies in memory

Discussion created by ca.portal.admin on Aug 31, 2007
But, cobol and assembler programs are not loaded using a null pde,
correct? they are either sysgenned or dcmt v dynamiced. Also,
technically, I dont understand why varying memory on a pde corrupts pde
searches when the pde's are indexed. If the pde search were binary,
then I understand that other pde's could be compromised in the search.
But an index search will find the index entry, go to the pde and then
loader decides the name in the pde doesn't match the search criteria and
return a not found condition. Exactly what the purpose was. No
question in my mind that this should not be a lightly taken approach,
but if a production system must be supported and the cv cycling produces
an expensive outage that the company is paying for, and CA can't fix the
corrupted pde problem because it's not recreatable, then what else can a
technician do?

Changing password in differnt dictionaries
"Hi Everybody:

We have a programmers requirenmet to change the password on user signon and try to replicate the new password to the different dictionaries that the programmer have. I know that the user can change the ddlsec password using the signon, but how to give an option to the programmers to sync this main password with all the passwords in the different dictionaries that that they have access. Any ideas ???

Thanks.

Re: 2 PDE copies in memory
"Well.. actually, in that case you would just use the DCMT VDP command
again and make sure you specified COBOL.
I would never vary PDE name in memory - unless I wanted to duplicate
this problem!!
I'm done.
