IDMS communicating with more than 1 LPAR

As part of a cost containment measure, some of our CPU host people are
talking about splitting our LPAR into two or more. One of these LPARS
to be batch, and one to be online (CICS.)

Now for the question: Can IDMS talk with more than 1 LPAR from 1 CV?
If so, are any of you doing it - and how so?

I'm just starting the research and am thinking that the list would be a
great place to start.

Re: IDMS communicating with more than 1 LPAR
"What they want to do is create a CICS ""only"" LPAR. The rational is that
(from what I've been told) IBM bills CICS at a rate that includes total
resource usage per LPAR that CICS is run in. As IDMS does most of the
work (I/O at any rate for CICS/IDMS/DML programs; cpu and I/O for
CICS/IDMS/LRF programs), moving CICS to another LPAR should reduce the
cost.

I can't believe anything but that the overhead is going to be high. As
you indicated, I'd be interested in what others have experienced doing
this kind of thing - especially creating a CICS only LPAR.
