etc, or where to locate one

In the 2006 Greythorn Salary Index for Australia

bcsi_scan_69B208086D3B6F44=0&bcsi_scan_filename=GSI_SYD_06.pdf

it shows that a IDMS DBA with 2-4 years experience earns more than
senior DBAs with 4+ years experience in any other DBMS.

However, there are scarcely any IDMS DBAs in Australia, so I suspect
that this was the salary of just one guy at CSC in Melbourne. Also a
recent advertisement (offering full Oracle training) for an IDMS DBA in
Melbourne was advertised for 3+ months because they could not get
anyone. That job advert has now disappeared, but a new one (asking for
secuirty clearance) has appeared by a different agency. Don't know if
its the same job.

Approx 2-3 months ago, on a european job search engine (I have EC
passport hence my interest) advertised a ""permanent"" IDMS DBA spot in
Switzerland paying 100,000 british pounds. These are actually contractor
rates, so this ""permanent"" position is really just a long-term contract
role.

Also on DICE a few months ago, I saw a IDMS DBA permanent position
paying between US $60,000 - $120,000 based upon experience. I have also
seen quite a few US roles paying approx US $80,000 - 100,000.

Test Database Generators?
"Ladies & Gentlemen,

I've got to support the rebuilding of a legacy development environment (
Z/OS, CICS, COBOL, IDMS ) including and especially the test database.

Does anyone have any success stories/recommendations they would like to
share?

Thank You,

Bob Shaw

Re: Z/OS 1.9
"Hi Chris:

Key's lower than 8 are reserved (IMS uses 7, for example, for a variety of
cross memory services, etc.). In fact, I don't believe it's legal for 'user
code' (other than that which can get in KEY 0), to use a key outside the
range 8-15. The default of 8 is the safest. The only time IDMS would
depart from that convention was if you were running in an alternate key to
evoke SVC protection (a separate topic), or if you use an alternate user
storage key assignment in the sysgen (generally key 9).
