Setting upper and lower case from within an application

I am looking into allowing lower case characters for the password field
in our application signon screen. The application is designed to use
only upper case characters where the inital setting (DCUF SET UPPER) is
in effect for the entire application. I have seen in the Map Read/Write
Options for the Field definition series of screens in MAPC the setting
""Translate to upper case"" but this is not required (and has not been
set) because the overall setting is to UPPER. When I use ""DCUF SET
UPLOW"" I can key in both upper and lower case characters into the
application screens.

However, the amount of effort to change every alphanumeric entry field
in the application to ""Translate to upper case"" would be unacceptable if
the overall setting was ""DCUF SET UPLOW"".

The question I have is whether there is a way to issue the ""DCUF SET
UPPER"" with an application call so I can have the first signon screen
execute as DCUF SET UPLOW and then for all other application screens
have DCUF SET UPPER active. Alternatively, is there any other approach
that I can use to isolate the change required to support both upper and
lower case to the signon screen only?

TIA

Pop-up Window in ADS
"Hey Listers:

Anybody know how to create a small pop-up window in ADS - like the
function
search facility in ADSA? I'm trying to create a customized ""help""
window that will display specific information about the map field value,
rather than the normal map field help.

Thanks,

CPU Effectiveness on IDMS 16.0 SP1
"Hi,

We just upgraded our processor from a z800 2066-0X2 to a z9 2096-I01.

Our CPU Effectiveness was in the 75% plus range and now it flounders in
the 55% to 64% range. Only 4 days worth of info to look at so far.

Looking at the DCMT D SUBTASK 01 we can see the System mode CPU time is
down a lot and from DCMT D SUBTASK EFFECTIVENESS the Elapsed time is
down, but as a percentage, less than the decrease in System mode CPU
time.

Obviously we seem to be getting better throughput with the new processor
but have we lost efficiency? The SP1 manual doesn't really say very much
about the effectiveness and what a good value is. I asked similar
questions when we went 16.0 SP1 in 2005 and Edward Timm mentioned WLM.
Is this something I should ask our system's guys if WLM needs to be
re-configured?

Thanks

Re: Pop-up Window in ADS
"Tim,

In MAPC, for Help Text Definition, there is a Window format that can be
1 for Half and 2 for Full. I tried changing one of our maps from 2 to 1
but the format was still full. Don't know if that's a bug in MAPC or if
any apars are out there for it.
