Storage question

Discussion created by ca.portal.admin on Jan 29, 2008
We have recently purchased some new DASD here at Southern. Our storage
group is asking if we would have any problems if they carved it up in
mod 9 and mod 27 type volumes - presumably to make it easier for them to
administer. Presently they define our volumes as mod 3 types.

Anyone have any experiences with these mod types that they can share?
Any gotchas to look out for?

Thanks in advance.

Jim

moving data between DASD volumes
"as a followup, the tool we use to move a MOD3 to a MOD>3 is TDMF - it can
move a 'HOT' MOD3 to an empty MOD9 or MOD27 with no loss of integrity - but
it cannot move another MOD3 into a partially-filled MOD9 or MOD27

Questions about CA-IDMS Server 16.1 new features
"1) Primary and foreign key metadata support: For network databases,
does this require explicitely defining the primary/foreign keys in the
schema?

2) Secure sockets layer support: ""The Type 2 JDBC driver and ODBC
driver use the SSL support provided by CAICCI 2.1."" Does the CAICCI 2.1
SSL support require AT-TLS?

Diagnostics and Symbol tables - another question
"Continuing the discussion on turning off diagnostics and symbol tables
in production ADS dialogs...

I have a culprit report which will show if a load module has a symbol
table. How do you determine from the load module if diagnostics are
turned on? Can anyone supply a sample report or code?

Thanks in advance.

Re: [IDMSVENDOR-L] Diagnostics and Symbol tables - another question
"for a load area member,:

Description: The DPROG-171 record type is used by the CA-IDMS/DC online
debugger. Each DPROG-171 occurrence represents a program load module for
which a symbol table has been established. Currently, symbol tables can
be established only for CA-ADS dialogs.

If you can please comment on the memory requirements, CPU Cycles, etc.

Thanks in advance for your time and support.

Re: Diagnostics and Symbol tables - another question
"Chris,
As mentioned in the original email, I know how to get information on the
symbol table from the LOADHDR record. What I need is a way to get
information concerning whether a load module for an ads dialog has
diagnostics set on.
