VS-Cobol and Release 16?

Discussion created by ca.portal.admin on Feb 8, 2008

Hi Lister's:

Does anyone have experience running a VS-Cobol application under IDMS
R16
SP5 or SP6?

I have a client planning a R15 to R16 upgrade, and they have a
production
application running OS/VS Cobol as 'LE compliant' in R15, and they do
not
want to migrate their Cobol environment at this time.

Any knowledge you're willing to share is greatly appreciated in advance!

Re: hOW TO DETECT A DIALOG THAT FALL IN A RUNAWAY
"Hi Javier:

You may find an informational (severity 0) DC002001 error message in the log
that specifies a task was terminated by exceeding the RUNAWAY interval. If
you need a task snap to identify the dialog or program, you could try
increasing the severity of the message. Note that it's possible that the
message and severity is hard-coded in an IDMS routine, in which case you'd
need a zap from IDMS technical support to increase the severity of the
message.

The runaway task (abend code D004) should give you a task snap dump
which should allow you to identify the program/dialog. If it does not
give you a dump change the message severity to give you a dump.
