Encryption of data in IDMS

Discussion created by ca.portal.admin on Feb 25, 2008
Does anyoine have experience dealing with encrypting data in IDMS
databases? I have a client who is looking into it and would appreciate
any and all pointers.

Any vendors of encryption for IDMS are welcome to contact me off the
list at wiklund@tiburontech.com.

PreFetch Buffer Allocation
"Does anyone know when buffers are allocated when specifying PreFetch in the SYSIDMS control cards? Are the buffers for each specified DD-Statement allocated at the beginning of the program's execution or only after any particular File is opened?

Re: Encryption of data in IDMS
"We have a SOX requirement from the auditors to encrypt data on the
database.
After a great deal of research on the encryption techniques, we too
wrote
database procedures to encrypt and decrypt certain fields on the
database.

We are making some application adjustments to deal with the fact that
one of the fields we are encrypting is the principal key in a system
owned
indexed which is now rather useless.
