"Yeah, but one or two of his dates are skewed. CA bought Cullinet in
1989, I oughta know LOL, not 1986. Also, he didn't mention Gupta's
involvement in IDMSR, since the SQL engine came from Gupta associates.
Dave Litwack was the driving force behind AD tools development alright,
but the early efforts under IDMSR, ICMS, were to generate ADSO code
under covers, not C based objects. Dave Litwack left Cullinet way
before the CA takeover, and I think it was partly because IDMSR and its
ADSO code generation under the covers was considered a flop. I forgot
what the product was called, A...something, but its support people had a
dickens of a time trying to make it fly. IDMS source was rewritten for
the VAX, midrange world, and PC's, but that never took off either.
