Hi,

Is there anyway to get just the length of a user's IDMS password from
the USER record, since they are encrypted? We are running IDMS 16.0
SP01.

Thanks.

"Just to clarify, I know that the PASSWORD field in USER-047 is 8
characters long. We would like find out if IDMS users are using
passwords that are too short, given there is no restriction on the
minimum length of an IDMS password.

Thanks.

If you mean the USER-047 it shows the password field is pic X(08) so
it's no longer that that. I believe Laderman has a utility program to
migrate user passwords as well.

"Maybe you could do some checks with a dummy userid and use OLQ or DMLO
to see what the USER-047 shows for 2,3,4,5 or 6 characters passwords?
Just a thought...
