SNAP verb in CICS program? (my cics program, ing ignorance is showing)

Discussion created by ca.portal.admin on Jul 14, 2008
we are trying to trap errors in a CICS program (protocol CICS-EXEC) and using the following:

01 WS-SNAP-TITLE PIC X(134) VALUE ' TB08TB08 ERR'.

in working storage, and

SNAP TITLE IS WS-SNAP-TITLE
FROM ERROR-STATUS LENGTH +4.

in the procedure division

however, the SNAP verb is not being detected in the precompiler as a IDMS verb.

is SNAP not permitted in a CICS program?
if not, any alternatives?

thanks,

"Another alternative is display statements in CICS COBOL programs go to
the CEEMSG DD statement in CICS and
can be displayed in real time in SDSF. Put a ? next to your CICS region
and look for CEEMSG.
Of course this would not help if you are trying to examine hex data...
