Re: [IDMSVENDOR-L] Going to the darkside!

I just came out of Infor Global Solutions in the latest round of layoffs
last month. They have the support for all of the CAS product line now,
since
they purchased SSA Global about 2 years ago. At last count there were
about
15-20 sites worldwide that are still running CAS. Some may never get
away
from it, since the relational databases have such a hard time with some
of
the BOM structures that IDMS and CAS support so well.

I do not mean to belittle that site you're talking about but
apparently
the planning here by management was well conceived.

"I was thinking about this. These 15 - 20 CAS sites...there could
possibly be more. Prior to the Oracle conversion we had dropped our
maintenance license for years. The CAS software was modified so much
they could not upgrade so the need for paying maintenance was unfounded.
It just expired. There could be many more like that also...paying for
IDMS but letting CAS go.
