We're running IDMS 16.0 SP4 and getting OC4 at startup on Z/OS 1.9.
Anyone else seen this? What was the cause if you did?

PRODUCT: CA-IDMS/DB CORE-MVS/VSE/VM/MSP/BS2000 RELEASE: 16.0

PEA #: QI82743 DATE: 20 AUG 2007

***** Product Error Alert *****

PROBLEM DESCRIPTION: Allocation of storage from CSA subpools.

A new parameter has been introduced with z/OS 1.8 which when set will
prevent jobs from allocating storage from CSA subpools using user keys 8
through 15.

This new parameter is ""AllowUserKeyCSA"" and can be specified as
""AllowUserKeyCSA(YES)"" or ""AllowUserKeyCSA(NO)"". The default at z/OS 1.8
or lower is ""AllowUserKeyCSA(YES)"".

Starting at release 1.9 the default will be AllowUserKeyCSA(NO) .

If ""YES"" is specified there will be no impact on IDMS or jobs which
communicate with IDMS via the External Run Unit System (Batch to CV,
CICS, etc).

If ""No"" is specified then the IDMS system will abend during startup with
a system abend code of B78-5C.

If you are not able to run with ""AllowUserKeyCSA(YES)"" then you will
need to perform the following procedure to prevent the abends.

1) Place the IDMS/DC system Startup Module, RHDCTCKR, and
and RHDCCKUR in a load library.

2) Add that library to the appropriate SYS1.PARMLIB(PROG..) member
, e.g. APF ADD DSNAME(my.apflib) VOLUME(vvvvvv)

3) Update the appropriate SYS1.PARMLIB(SCHED..) member to include
the line:

PPT PGMNAME($STARTUP),KEY(4),NOSWAP

(Where $STARTUP is the IDMS/DC Startup Module name.

4) In the IDMS startup JCL ensure that the library containing
the Startup Module, RHDCTCKR, and RHDCCKUR is the only library
specified in ""STEPLIB"".

5) Specify STEP=Y on the exec parm. (Release 16.0 and higher only)

Example:

//IDMSDC EXEC PGM=IDMSDC,REGION=0M,TIME=1440,
// PARM='S=100,STEP=Y '

You may also specify that IDMS is to load RHDCCKUR
and RHDCTCKR from ""STEPLIB"" via the positional ""S""
startup parameter as shown below.

Any supported IDMS release. This is the only supported method
for pre Release 16.0 sites.

Example:

1 2 3 4
12345678901234567890123456789012345678901

//R150DC99 EXEC PGM=IDMSKY,REGION=0K,TIME=1440,
// PARM='S=100 S '

Note: ""S"" in position 10 following the
system number instructs the IDMS system to load RHDCCKUR
and RHDCTCKR from STEPLIB.

To verify that key 4 is in fact being used you can run the ""DCPROFIL""
task. On the first page of the ""DCPROFIL"" report, about 1/3 of the way
down the screen on the right side you will see the Primary Storage
Protect Key being used by the IDMS system.

Example:

TAPE: G0GJ4M NUMBER OF SCTS: 0008

TOOLS TAPE: G0GJ4M

SYSTEM TRACE: YES OPERATING SYSTEM: MVS

CWA SIZE: 0000032767 DMCL TABLE: R160DMCL

PRIMARY STORAGE
SCRATCH HWM 0000000050 PROTECT KEY: 04

Note: Capturing dumps when running using a System key. (Note added
03/05/2008

If an abend should occur during IDMS system initialization it is
possible that a complete System Dump will not be captured because a
System key is being used instead of a User key. The operating system
design is to not dump storage for keys 0 to 7 (System keys).
To ensure complete dumps are always captured the user associated with
the startup of the IDMS system needs to be granted ""READ"" access to
facility "" IEAABD.DMPAKEY"". Please consult the appropriate security
sub-system documentation for the procedures to grant access to a
facility.
