another 17.0 item to watch for ....

in 17.0 - the DMCL journals are more dynamic - which requires more space
in the catalog to allow for the DSNAME to be stored- this takes the
JOURNAL-1043 record from 160 20 220 bytes

the 17.0 idd and ssc both expect the JOURNAL-1043 records to be at the
longer length - but there is nothing in the conversion process (at least
for us non-SQL sites) to convert these records. .OCF does not have a
problem with the disparity - but ,... a DBAN of DDLCAT does - and DML of
the unconverted record receives a 0353

the solution? just so happen I have one

ALTER DISK JOURNAL dmcl.name or ALTER ARCHIVE JOURNAL dmcl.name for each
occurance - and the problem goes away

i have a ... (wait for it ...) .,....... Culprit that will
identify/create the change that are needed - let me know if interested

ps - if you were to create a NEW DMCL in 17 this problem would not
exist!
- so punching/dropping/creating might not be a bad idea

"Hi Chris,

Did you have to run CONVERT CATALOG in the 17.0 install process? I would
have thought this would have fixed this type of problem, guess not?

Thanks
