Re: [IDMSVENDOR-L] Question about IDMS record ids

Discussion created by ca.portal.admin on Mar 20, 2009
why would the app abend after copying data? DATA does not know about
record ids - so of you OBTAINed occurrances of record A (id 1001) and
STORED an identically defined record B (id 1005) in another CV via DML
(-
who cares about record id? or am i missing something?

Re: [IDMSVENDOR-L] Question about IDMS record ids
"Chris, they just wanted to copy the whole dataset over. I realize that
if they obtained the data and did a store that that would work, but they
don't want to write all the programs required to read and write all the
data every time they want to refresh the data. They just wanted a quick
fix. I know things should have been migrated in order, but that wasn't
done and everything is also defined to one large schema.
Hindsight is 20/20!
