Re:RLEs Increased, then BOOM!

Discussion created by ca.portal.admin on Feb 25, 2010
We received the RLE messages below just before our CV crashed. The CV
was humming along happily before this problem and it warmstarted fine
afterward. Neither task 550832 nor 551906 appear in any of the logs.
The other tasks listed in the messages look like innocent bystanders.
Any suggestions on where to begin the hunt for the perp?

"Re: RLEs Increased, then BOOM!"
"When a program suddenly starts grabbing lots of RLE's the first thing we lo=
ok for is a ""storage grabber"" - such as a long running (usually batch) prog=
ram with no COMMIT policy - it keeps grabbing more storage for ""lock table =
entries"". If you have lots of storage I'd expect to see RLE's being chewed=
up - with less storage you might expect to go SOS before blowing RLE's ?

Just a thought - cheers - Gary =20
