please allow me to respond


1) i would have concerns with separate journallog-offload-only DMCL only be=
cause of the possibility of a critical component getting modified in one bu=
t not the other

2) to Kay - why separate localmode DMCL? idms has provided separate local m=
ode buffers since release 12.0 also - there are SYSIDMS parameters to give =
you program-level additional flexibility for additional buffers


but i know what the answer is .... ""that's the way we have always done thin=
gs, and no one wants to change it""

"As Chris indicated, the same DMCL can be used under CV and in local mode processing.
The buffer size is typically large for central version operations to accommodate concurrent processing and small for local mode operations
to accommodate single application.

There are other reasons for using separate local dmcl, e.g. large index rebuilt, initial database load, reducing the number of segments in the dmcl to reduce address space, etc..
Recently we use local dmcl to implement local scratch area SYSLOC.DDLOCSCR to run OLQBATCH and IDMSBCF for large query. The attachment documents
the process we use.
