Hi all,
CA-IDMS r17 Server Option was annouced to support hibernate. Does anyone =
know if this includes SQL access to non-SQL databases? The announcement =
is a bit unclear:

CA IDMS Server r17 includes a Hibernate dialect specifically designed =
for CA IDMS SQL that enables easier Java application development. =
Hibernate provides object-relational mapping for Java objects =
persistence in relational databases, so Java developers are free to =
concentrate on the business logic of their application.

It's the specific mentioning of relational databases that worries me a =

Thanks in advance!

Re: CA-IDMS r17 hibernate support
"Martin, Hibernate support does include SQL access to non-SQL databases, but there are some limitations. For example, some features like reverse engineering rely on foreign key relationships which most non-SQL databases don't have. However, in the testing we did a couple of years ago we found that there are almost always workarounds for the limitations.

I wrote up a paper with our findings on the testing. Let me make sure it's up-to-date and then I'll send it to you.
