[IDMSVENDOR-L] 7 Bit Radix

Discussion created by ca.portal.admin on Jul 9, 2010
We have a segment that is approaching the upper limits of pages we have
for growth. One of the options we are considering is going to a 7 bit
radix. We are wanting to know if any other IDMS-L contributors have
done this.

1. Is it in production?
2. How did you convert to it?
3. Were there any application you ran into?
4. Did you find any performance issue with it?

Any and all feed back would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks,
Steve Nason

now to prevent space management page deadlocks???
"i think we all know the bad programming code that can lead to db-key
deadlocks - but are SMP deadlocks just a matter of coincidence?
can they just occur because of where record occurrence STORES or DELETES
(or MODIFYs) are intended to take place?

you only need to test the programs that you want to work correctly

"Would there be a higher incidence of SMP Deadlocks when an area was more
than 70% full?
