Has anyone ever FTP from a tape file on the mainframe to a client on

open systems?

Re: FTP FROM TAPE
"Do you mean from a real Tape? If so, you must create a file under the userid
running the FTP job that is name userid.FTP.DATA and

contains the only the following statemSent:

AUTOTAPEMOUNT TRUE

The FTP control statements should be similar to the following:

locsite READTAPEFormat=F

bin

PUT 'tape dataset name' +

'tape dataset name'

If its RECFM=V(B), you may also need RDW TRUE in the userid.FTP.DATA but as
I recall that may not work nor may locsite rdw in the FTP statements. If the
Tape file is on disk, locsite rdw will maintain the RDWs in the records but
not the BDW.

Give this a try and let me know how you make out. I haven't done this for a
few years so maybe there is someone out there that has been through this
more recently.

Of course, this prompts the question of how are you going to process the
EBCDIC data on the target box?
