Re:Re: Convert IDMS from NONSMS to SMS

Steve,  from my experience,  SMS does nothing for IDMS database administration. When SMS was  implemented in my shop,  we excluded the IDMS DASD from SMS.

SMS might be a benefit for DB2 but that is a subject for another listserv.  :-)

How can I convince management and other IS support personnel about converting from non sms environment to a SMS environment.

Is there a good business savings  presentation for doing this conversion?

Hi all,

=20

A while back we encountered no journal available issue because of a user
application and IDMS generated the following message:=20

IDMS DC205011 V4 T45376 NO Journals are AVAILABLE. IDMS Waiting

=20

We have automation in place to trap the following message' +IDMS
DC205003 V1 T1958 Disk Journal is FULL' and submit the appropriate off
load job.

=20

Does anyone know of other automation processes that can be used to avoid
this 'no journals available' issue?
