Resource Planning>Allocations>Weekly Details - Time Scale Values - ISSUES

  • 1.  Resource Planning>Allocations>Weekly Details - Time Scale Values - ISSUES

    Hello,

Is anyone using the Resource Planning> Allocations > Weekly Details Portlet successfully - in particular, with the Time Scale Values of "Weekly"?

We are encountering an error message: "The time periods requested do not exist. Review the column"s Time Scale setting."

We do not know which column is causing the issue...we know there is data...if we pick Monthly we get data....if we pick Weeks, and go up to 14 weeks we are okay but anything beyond that, for weekly, generates the error (and then no data is displayed).

TEC439086 tells which periods exist and TEC491657 gives more details on when the data is displayed.

The time periods used in that portlet are system periods which are not user configurable and you can't even see the definitions in the GUI. My understanding is that they are timeslices
The first doc tells you how many periods forward and to the past you can see of each type.

The second doc says that if you have one time period outside those ranges you will get the error.
It suggests that you configure you view to display just one period and then you can move one period at a time to see where the error comes.

You may have actual data in a time period which gives the error. The error comes because that period is not sliced.

    Hopefully that will help you.

    Sorry Steve and Martin,

I did not check for additional information - we are on v8.1 we can get approx 14 weeks of information on the Weekly Allocations portlet...if we ask for a higher count of weeks the allocation gantt displays the weeks columns but there is no information inside and we get the warning to check the columns timeslice...

    Any ideas?

    Many thanks,

    Donna

Use the user configurable time slices, configure them as you need and create a custom portlet.

    Hello Martti,

Our support staff are trying to understand but this seems a little daunting....This may be an unusual request but it is possible to set up a conference call with you to discuss how to approach a customized portlet?

I can reach out offline if you are interested.

    Many thanks,

    Donna

Instead of having to fall back to custom portlets, wouldn't it be cool if this just worked out of the box for us all? Allowing us to set the scale as we need?

If you think this would provide business value to your organization, please click here and promote the idea Allow Administrative control over time slice ranges on OOTB System Data Providers.

FYI if anyone was wondering, it is still an issue in R13. Just finished my upgrade and noticed today it is still there.
