  • 1.  Project Level Dependencies

Our company is begining to place a strong focus on the dependencies that exist, between projects. Clarity provides a way to document these dependencies at the project object level. However (and unfortunately) there is little to no functionality to support pulling this information back out of the tool (or for viewing these project relationships outside of the project object (eg. A portfolio view of dependencies that exists for projects in scope, etc.).

I wanted to confirm that I was not missing functionaltiy that might already exist...and/or to leverage actions others have taken to increase the capabilities around dependency management (e.g. custom reports...bringing into Webi, etc.)

(Note: we are currenlty on 8.1.5..but quickly moving to V13.

Any and all ideas and suggestions are appreciated!

    Thanks!

Don't recall off hand dependencies being used anywhere else and have not seen them really used in the early stages of PPM implementation.
Looking at the entity relation diagram and PRJ_PROJECT_DEPENDS table in Tech ref the structure appears similar to hierarchy which allows to build a query based portlet for projects with dependencies for starters.
Similarly a custom query based portfolio portlet would display the dependencies.
If the information is not in any of the default universes you would have to modify or build one.
