Dear Friends,

The application people are re-compiling a COBOL program that was last compiled in 1991. Trying to compile it today under z\VSE 4.3.1 and IDMS R17, the following error is received:

00293 READY DDLDML USAGE-MODE IS RETRIEVAL.
E DML074 Area Name Missing Or Misspelled

I presume this program is trying to open the SYSTEM DDLDML area. I am told the purpose of this program is to search the IDD for a given string.

I am IDMS-application challenged, but it has fallen to me to explain why the program won't compile today, when it compiled 21 years ago with no problems. Can anyone help me out with an obvious solution?

Cheers and have a good weekend.
