A simple and fast was to copy or create a event is to change the event ID when editing the event.

For example let’s assume you have an event with the ID CA.FTP. You want to create the event CA.FTP2 that is similar to CA.FTP.

This is the example of the event.

EVENT ID(CA.FTP) SYSTEM(CA1) INHERIT_TRIGGER_USER REPLACE
INVOKE 'CASUPPORT(FTP)'
ENDDEF

Simply alter the event as require and ensure you change the event ID and enter save(or PF#3)

For example I'll create event CA.FTP2

EVENT ID(CA.FTP2) SYSTEM(CA1) INHERIT_TRIGGER_USER REPLACE
INVOKE 'CASUPPORT(FTP2)'
ENDDEF

What you get is the new event CA.FTP2 added and the old event CA.FTP will not be altered.

Mike Ellis pointed out one gotcha with this process. Take care when saving the event with the keyword REPLACE. This will replace the EVENT if it exists. If you intend to add the event and do not expect it to exist it is safer to replace the keyword REPLACE with ADD. If use the keyword ADD and the event exist you will get a error message when you exit the event.
