  • 1.  Difference in timesheet ETC and ETC at the Task level.

    Hi,
We are facing an issue where the ETC at the timesheet level is not alligned with the ETC at the task level for the perticular resource.
We have checked the pending actuals as well but if we add the pending actuals and ETC at the Task level it is still not alligned wth the ETC at the timesheet level.

Please share your thoughts on this.

    Thanks,
    Manish

    There is also pending ETC.
That is the user has entered a value on the timesheet ETC column.
The default is the ETC the project manager has entered in the plan. The user has rights to overwrite that.
That should display as the pending ETC in OWB and proposed ETC in Clarity.

    Thanks Martti.
If we change the ETC at the timesheet level, doesn't it get updated at the project..task level.

    Thanks,

    Nope.
The way I understand it by default the ETC on the timesheet is coming from prassignment.prEstCurve (blob and cracked on the fly). That is one way read.

As long as it it untounched that will be the case.
If the user enters something in that then that read is no longer populating the field. The user entered value goes to prassignment.PRPENDESTSUM.
That is just sum and not timescaled ie not for any specific timeperiod.
That is displayed as pending estimate in OWB of proposed ETC in Clarity.
In OWB you can either accept or rejct the pending ETC which resets that to zero and after which the timesheet value is again coming from prassignment.prEstCurve.
Reject just resets pending ETC to zero and accept sets the assignment ETC equal to pending ETC after which pending ETC is set to zero.
I don't know how the proposed ETC is handled in Clarity.

We use MS Project with Clarity. If the person filling out the timesheet changes the ETC and submits the timesheet, the project manager can see the Pending ETC in MSP in the Number1 or Number2 field (the other field has the Pending Actuals). However, when the Post Timesheets job is run, the Pending ETC does not become the new ETC. The new ETC is set by formula (previous ETC - Actuals = new ETC). Is there a mechanism or setting within Clarity to allow the user-entered ETC to be applied during/after the Post Timesheets job rather than the system-calculated ETC?
