Adding new metrics

We have a Tomcat agent installed and one of the metrics that it shows us is named getCurrentThreadsBusy in the default thread pool. I would like to get something similar for the oracle jdbc connections. Can anyone tell me how I can go about setting that up? I found various classes under oracle.jdbc.pool but everything I add just gives me the standard ART, concurrent invocations, errors, responses, and stalls.

Thanks,
Richard
