There's an annoying error being generated in Clarity 12.1.3.x. It happens a lot when running Processes.

The specific error is: ODF-0103: Not authorized to update instance {0} of object {1}.

The temporary workaround is to stop and re-start the BG service (s). Go back to the process and click Retry on the error step.

No word on when it will be resolved.

    Hi Juan,

Thanks for posting this out to the community so they are aware. Do you have the defect # for it?

    Thanks!

    Document ID: TEC574506
    Tech Document
Title: Clarity: ODF-0103: Not authorized to update instance null of object (1)

    Description:

We are seeing some intermittent errors and cannot determine why it is happening. Restarting the BG Services and retrying the step seems to temporarily resolve the problem.

Some of the reported errors found include:

You do not have the rights to perform the action

Requisition not found - This can be for any object

BPM-0519: Internal Process Engine Error. Contact your site administrator (Object with name 'thisIdea' refers to object 'idea' bound to the instance '5040162' is not found). Again this can be for any object.

End-users may also loose rights like the right to auto-start a process. Restarting the background services fixes this issue.
    Steps to Reproduce:

Login into Clarity as admin user

Go to Objects -> Project -> Attributes -> Investment Id -> Auto Numbered - Check

Create a process using idea object as primary object

Create system action by selecting operation Convert Idea To Project

Create a process using idea object as a primary object

Create a manual action with action name: aa, action id:aa, subject: aa (don't select thisIdea just type aa) and assign to some resource

    validate and activate

Create an idea instance at application end

Go to processes tab and run two process from available sub tab

    Make sure processes get completed

Change the server time to 55 minutes ahead

Now run the process which has manual action(not system action so that only session cache get accessed)

Make sure it is get completed.

Delete the cmn_sessions table entries(If you are able to get only user session for BG just delete that otherwise delete all)

Change the server time to 10 minutes ahead.

Run the process which has idea to project conversion call
Expected Result: The process should get completed successfully
Actual Result: The System throws an error You do not have the rights to perform the action.

    Solution:

    Workaround:
Restart all the Background Servers and retrying the problem steps will resolve the problem temporarily.

    Hi ,

Did any body face the issue where in the Process did not kick start even after following the steps specified in the Tech Document. We have a similar issue and I restarted the BG and retried the Process and the process user status kept on at Pending Retry and did not move forward. Any suggestions on this please.

    Regards,

    Mahesh

This is happening because of a known bug CLRT-67832 UserSecurityPermissionRoleCache is getting cleaned during process execution resulting in "not authorized" errors.

There is a workaround for the same by replacing the CMN_SESSION_CLEANUP_SP.xml file. I am attaching the file for V12 and V13 also.

But when we restarted bg and clear clarity caches, the process working just fine.

That means workaround given fixed the issue.

    Thanks,

That could be the root of the problem where your cache is getting inconsistent. It could be multicast issue. Hence to rule out  I would like to help you via support case so that we can find out if its the bug or other things
