Thank you for attending askCA for CA Spectrum and thank you to the support engineers, product engineers and software engineering team who took time to join. Thank you to our customers for taking time out of your day to join us as well. We hope you found today's session useful and informative. Action Items are noted in red jaina01 sinsa12
from Melissa Potvin (CA) to everyone: Hi Everyone! Let's get started !
from Melissa Potvin (CA) to everyone: Use the chat window to start asking your questions.
from Olaf to everyone: Hi, is there a way to monitor VMWare virualized network platform -> VMWare NSX with Spectrum
from hans J.Koenig to everyone: Hello, I have a question about the minimal Java versions required for Spectrum.
In the last updates CA normally use a newer Java version for each Spectrum version.
We have a central client software distribution which must take care of many version dependencies of different software packages especially regarding Java. So we are not able to use newer Java versions at all until they are officially released in our company - which can take some time. So now we are at version 1.8 Update 91.
So our problem is that we can’t use new Spectrum versions with all its new features and bug fixes because of the minimal Java version. So we are now at 9.1.1. Isn’t it possible for CA to officially support older versions, too?
from Balram Kakani to everyone: @Olaf - i will not be able to answer that, we will get back to you on this later (VMware NSX)
from Nagesh Jaiswal to everyone: @Olaf - VMware NSX is part of our oradmap
from Manuel to everyone: @Olaf - you need to use CA VNA
from Olaf to everyone: NSX on the roadmap sounds good. The new version of VNA removed NSX support
from Olaf to everyone: For VNA we are in additiion interested in Netcracker support. Any plans to support this?
from big to everyone: is there a date for the next spectrum update
(ACTION) from Nagesh Jaiswal to everyone: Not yet. We will look into it
from Pascal to everyone: Hi, i have a question about Spectrum/PM Integration, what are the minimum requirements hardware-wise for the Oneclick Server used for the integration?
from Melissa Potvin (CA) to everyone: @olaf, we are holding roadmap sessions, registration required ca.com/roadmap to register.
from Olaf to everyone: registration already done. Looking forward to the 17.1.2018
from Nagesh Jaiswal to everyone: @Big the next Spectrum release in this quarter
from Nagesh Jaiswal to everyone: @Pascal - There is no special consideration for OneClick with respect to any integration. You can look at the documentation for OneClick server resources need
from big to everyone: do you prublish a device certification priority list for new devices for spectrum support?
(ACTION) from Sarbdeep Singh to everyone: @Hans, Thanks for posting the question. I have noted down and reach out to you seperately
from Joern Henrichs to everyone: Will there be an bmp patch for Spectrum 10.2.2 like there was for 10.2.1?
from Ravi chandra to everyone: @Joern Yes there will be BMP patch on Spectrum 10.2.2
from Jason Meader to everyone: @big - no, we do not publish a device certification priority list.
from big to everyone: I have to ask what is a BMP patch?
from Klaus to everyone: Can I post a question on Spectrum to CA PC intergration
from Jason Meader to everyone: @big - bi monthly patch - essentially a rollup of the PTF fixes that we have
from Nagesh Jaiswal to everyone: @Klaus - Yes
from Joern Henrichs to everyone: is thee a release date for the bmp patch? or an target date?
from Klaus to everyone: Thanks. How can it be verified that devices are synchronized between Spectrum and CA PM. Customer was asking that question
from Sarbdeep Singh to everyone: @joern: by end of this quarter
from Sarbdeep Singh to everyone: @joern just a correction, BMP patch will be released by end of this month.
from Joern Henrichs to everyone: ahh - good!
from big to everyone: does anyone know of a textbook for the spectrum product? besides the manuals?
from Jason Meader to everyone: @Klaus - when the sync has happened on the Spectrum side there is an attribute named CAPC_Item_Id (0x13214) that will have a non zero value
from Matthew Gay to everyone: @big - No, there are no other books outside of our documentation.
from Klaus to everyone: Thanks.A watcher can be put in place to monitor that attribute
from Melissa Potvin (CA) to everyone: we are at the 1/2 hour mark, who else has questions?
from Balram Kakani to everyone: @Klaus - maybe a locator search can be used for that attribute
from Olaf to everyone: Is it known, which exact command will be given on a Cisco device during a capture for Cisco IOS SSH capable device via ssh connection? Can you confirm that is is something like "show running"? Background is, that the customer needs to know the exact command for his security department and TACACS authentication.
from Olaf to everyone: Same for Juniper ssh captures
from Olaf to everyone: it's regarding Spectrum Network Configuration Manager
from Melissa Potvin (CA) to everyone: so a few things while we wait for more questions. attend a CA roadmap session. you need to register at ca.com/roadmap sessions are being held for a number of different products
from Melissa Potvin (CA) to everyone: also, do you know we have a community directory? look here for more info https://communities.ca.com/docs/DOC-231166155
from big to everyone: is there any plan to enable configuration manager tasks to login via ssh versus telnet?
from Olaf to everyone: is the roadmap session on 17.1.2018 a repetition of the session from October 2017 or do you have additional news?
from Matthew Gay to everyone: @big - We do currently support SSH/SCP. Can you clarify further?
from Jayakrishna Karicharla to everyone: @Olaf : It should be copy command like copy running-config scp .. , but we will cross check again & will repond to you for Cisco & Juniper
from Olaf to everyone: Thank you very much
from big to everyone: I.E. to load new firmware in a cisco via a task in the configuration manager. The only option right now is telnet
from Balram Kakani to everyone: @Olaf : this link might help you regarding the command for cisco ios and also tacacs configuration for authorization https://communities.ca.com/thread/241737658
from Sarbdeep Singh to everyone: @Olaf, Regarding Roadmap session, we will be talking about NetOps Strategy. and cover Spectrum/PM Indivisual roadmaps.
from Matthew Gay to everyone: @big - As far as I am aware we will use the existing device family for the tasks. Including load firmware.
from big to everyone: yes but the transort is over telnet.
from Matthew Gay to everyone: @big - Further there is a "Server Settings" button where you select the protocol to be used.
from Sarbdeep Singh to everyone: @big, Spectrum supports the following communication modes.from big to everyone: it would be nice to have an ssh option in addition to telnet in the task configuration
from Melissa Potvin (CA) to everyone: last call for questions...
(ACTION) from Sarbdeep Singh to everyone: @big, I will reach out to you seperately for SSH query
from Olaf to everyone: @balram, the community thread is not a confirmation of the command used by NCM. Your confirmation would be nice
from Melissa Potvin (CA) to everyone: Ok everyone, thank you for joining.
from Melissa Potvin (CA) to everyone: a copy of the chat transcripts will publish to the community today.
from Melissa Potvin (CA) to everyone: be sure you are following the new spectrum community. you can continue to ask more questions there. https://communities.ca.com/community/ca-infrastructure-management/ca-spectrum
from Melissa Potvin (CA) to everyone: Have a great day everyone.
