As in SDM, we need the role based access in the catalog as well and which should be integrated with roles additional in the SDM.
As there are different roles in SDM and Catalog. We are very much defined what SD Roles pertain to. If we able to relate the Roles (access. permission) in catalog, then there should not be any administration task in Catalog to set the Role.
If a user in SDM is Administrator, then in the catalog the same user has to get that Role instead of editing. Similarly, analyst role in the SDM should able to see any user request in the Catalog as they are fulfillment contacts.
Employee/Vendor role in SDM should automatically set to 'Catalog User role'
But no give different role names in the SDM and Catalog buy they should be single object.
Thanks. It will help if you can share list of roles that you are using for Request and Incident Management across SDM, Service Catalog and IT Asset Manager, with summary of what each role is responsible for .
FYI, the next release of CA Service Management will have some OOTB aligned roles across capabilities and ability for Administrators to create roles at Solution level and choose specific privilege for each capability under a single Solution role.
we use Employee, Analyst, Service Desk Staff Role, Admin Role, Change Manager, Problem Manager, Incident Manager, Configuration Manager
Catalog End User - All non-IT employees have this role. All non-IT employees are call center employees who has Employee (Self-service) role in SDM.
Request Manager: We made this role as default as we have number of analyst role in SD, As we cannot manage all so we choose Request Manager Role as default. We want this role only for Analysts, Service Desk Staff Roles
In SDM we can add several roles to contact, and there is one default role which should be the Catalog Role when implement Single role solution in SDM and Catalog
CA Service Management 14.1 is GA now. When/If you get a chance please review Common Administration capabilities in the release. The capability allows Administrators to assign a role to the user once which in turn assigns associated product privileges (capability specific roles) behind the scene.
Please post back your thoughts from the review.
