For most things a community response is all that is needed IMO. But there have been specific instances where the solution felt borderline "hacky". In those cases I have either opened a case with CA, or included the community info in a reply to an existing ticket, just to have them sign off on it being an acceptable solution. I can't remember what exactly I did that with, but its happened a couple times.
