CA IDMS Tuesday Tip by Yves Anthoons, Principal Support Engineer for January 22, 2013.

Sometimes the CDMSLIB chain (for CVs) or STEPLIB chain (for batch programs) contains several libraries, and it is possible that a particular program is found in more than one of these libraries.

Question : Which copy is actually loaded by CA-IDMS ?
Answer : The first one found while walking these libraries in the CDMSLIB/STEPLIB chain.

Is it possible to find out from which specific library a program was loaded?
Yes, you can do this online using the LOOK task or in batch, using the IDMSLOOK utility.
For both of them, the input parameter is 'PROGRAM=loadmodulename' (without quotes or spaces).

The location where the program is loaded from is displayed in the header of the output.

Example
LOOK PROGRAM=IDMSDDDC

IDMSLOOK - OPSYS=z/OS Release 18.0 Service pack 0 tape GJI00B
PROGRAM=IDMSDDDC

was loaded From CDMSLIB DSN --> MEN.EUIDMS.SYSTEM67.V182.CAGJLOAD <----
