Hi guys,

App / Bg instances in the JVM field have the following default value:

-Xms512m -Xmx1024m -XX:MaxPermSize=128m

I know that the value Xmx is possible to modificate, for example I've seen this value as 2048

-Xms512m -Xmx2048m -XX:MaxPermSize=128m

Also I've seen MaxPermSize from 128 to 196.

My doubts are:

1 - Xmx corresponds to RAM assigned of Application Server?
2 - Exist a limit in this value or depends directly of resources of server?
for example: if my server have 8gb ram, I think that in the value Xmx I dont add a high value than 8192 (8 GB RAM).

3 - What is the function of MaxPermSize?
For example: if this value have 128 or 196 that represents?

"MaxPermSize" in what can to help?

Thanks for all,
Regards

Juan
