Monitoring for "Dead" JVM

Hi all,

I'm new to Introscope and need a bit of advice on getting an alert setup,

We have a server that runs software under a Java process, with monitoring setup for connectivity etc... the problem we are having is setting up an alert for when the JVM stats die (the Java process hangs) and getting it to alert. I've tried setting alerts if thresholds reach certain levels, however obviously there are no "levels" when Introscope can't reach the JVM itself.

Can anyone assist?

We're trying to figure out what's causing the Java process itself to hang and interrupt our sessions - but a key point is getting alerts so we can catch it in the act.

Regards
