CA IDMS Strategy and Roadmap

Greg Beedy –

Sr. Principal Product Manager

CA Technologies

The CA IDMS world has been busy and this is an excellent opportunity to hear directly from the CA IDMS product management team about recent activities and what is ahead for the rest of 2014 and beyond.  This session covers current IDMS projects, a look at CA IDMS 18.5.1, CA IDMS strategy and discussion of the CA IDMS roadmap including hot areas such as modernization, Web services, usability and Big Data.   We encourage an open exchange of ideas about how CA IDMS can help your organization to meet your business requirements.

CA IDMS in a High Availability Environment

Sheila Miller

CA Technologies

Having your system available at all times has never been more important than it is today.  CA IDMS offers many capabilities to facilitate high availability and 24X7 processing, with new ones added each release.  Come to this session to learn about parallel Sysplex features as well as topics related to database reorganization, handling of time changes for Daylight Savings Time, application of software maintenance and DMCL modifications for adding or removing files or journals dynamically.

CA IDMS Pass Ticket Support

Greg Beedy –

Sr. Principal Product Manager

CA Technologies

A PassTicket is effectively a single-use, time-limited, temporary password. It is created by an authorized program (not CA IDMS) explicitly for a particular user and application. When the external security system processes a sign on attempt and the password is invalid, it then checks to see if the alleged password is actually a valid PassTicket for the specified application and user and if so, it allows the sign on attempt to proceed.

CA Communities

And User Group news

Steve Rundle – UKIUA Chair

The CA-Communites and their most used feature the discussion boards are changing, again. A short Demo on how this may affect the IDMS community and questions.

Also, latest news from the UKIUA and the Global IUA community.

Big Data and Your Mainframe

Sheila Miller

CA Technologies

Big Data is transforming information use in organizations. But is Big Data a new concept?  The buzzword is new but most of technologies are not; they have evolved and are combined to manipulate massive amounts of data, at the right speed at the right time.  Big Data projects can include any data sources that share the characteristics of Volume, Velocity, and Variety, allowing for real-time analysis and better business decisions for your business.  Maybe your mainframe has some items for the next Big Data project?
