RSA SecurID Software Token Authentication

Our client is considering 2FA for their SiteMinder protected applications and they already have RSA SecurID. SiteMinder SecurID authentication scheme is an obvious choice.

According to the policy server guide, SiteMinder supports SecurID authentication using RSA SecureID hardware tokens.

Questions:

  1. How about RSA SecureID software tokens? Will SecurID Authentication with HTML Forms Support allow users to log in using RSA SecureID software tokens too?
  2. Any field experience as to whether RSA SecureID software tokens are compatible?
  3. Any known limitations?

Any advise is much appreciated.
