I need to give a resource the right to edit collaboration on any project. I know I could make them a team member or participant on each project. But wondered if there is a security right available?
If you search Ideas on this site, you'll find a few requests to enhance/bring back admin collaboration manager rights, some which used to exist but were removed by CA. We've been asking for their return for over 4 years, now.
Click on this and vote it up, please: Admin rights to add collaboration manager to projects
You can add your input there, too.
I would be careful about adding a resource to every project as a Collaboration Manager - I would not want to be this person, as this resource will get an email/notification from every project for every collaboration activity. Their email could overflow very quickly.
But a need to administrate all projects, without being added to each as Collaboration Manager, could be very useful.
Of course, if one needs to add a resource to every project as a Collaboration Manager, once could use an SQL Trace on the "Add Participant" and "Make Collaboration Manager" actions and use the results to produce a procedure that could do this for you. We, and others, have done something similar where whenever the project manager name is changed, the new manager's name is add as a participant and then made the project's collaboration manager.
There is some info, code and links regarding this method, here: Update collaboration manager
