Old School I know but would anyone use it if I set one up?
Now you can join the fun @channel: #nimsoftserver: irc.freenode.net
Sure, I actually use IRC for work & free time so I'm there quite a bit.
IRC is blocked on most corporate firewalls - surely a 'web' based chat tool would be better?
If it's just the firewall blocking and not content based (well, depending on firewall), you could use web client to join the irc channel as well.
Sorry for the slow reply for now I have created the following:
channel: #nimsoftserver: irc.freenode.netWhen I have chance I will create a web based java client within the forum but for people that are firewalled can try: https://kiwiirc.com/
Look forward to seeing you all there
already have a small group hanging out in the channel so bumping this thread for visibility. If I have time at the weekend I will intergrate the web based IRC client with autologins (your login name as your nick)
Nimsoft channel is invite only?
oops I accidentally set it when giving ops, I fixed it now.
reminding of this, we got a couple regular people hanging there already. The more the better
Also, I suggest lurking around in the channel. Like most channels, activity isup and down, and the more people hanging around, the better it is
also, the quality of discussion during daytime (european) is amazing
It depends a lot on how you connect. If you're using a real client, you often can set up your nick etc in the connect dialog / manager. After you've connected to the server "/server irc.freenode.net", you pretty much only need to join a channel "/join #nimsoft"
If you're using a webclient, they usually have a dialog setting everything up for you. I'm not sure what.
Just another reminder of the irc channel.
