How can I monitor NetApp vFiler using scripting ? I am not good in LUA scripting, Is it possible to run a Python script in Nimsoft ?? Please reply..
There are various SDK available Phython has been talked about but not sure its on the roadmap yet (please file an idea in the support portal or up vote an existing one)Other languages include:
Does vFiler support SNMP?
There was an idea posted by Nimsoft product management over a year ago asking the community which languages should be supported by new SDKs. Python had the most interest, but it seems nothing was ever done about that, and no further feedback, either positive or negative, was received from Nimsoft.
Ill create a new thread here and see if we can get it some traction. I have also sent an internal email requesting further info.
There is a Netapp probe that uses both SNMP and Ontapi to monitor Netapp storage devices.
I use some python script for monitoring info the way I integrate it with nimsoft is just using the nimqos and nimalarm executables. You can get alot of the vFiler info from snmp I believe the below oids will get you started.
Is it possible to use a Python script for monitoring and the same script integrate with nimsoft using these nimqos and nimalarm
No python SDK yet but please vote it up here, I think many of us would like to see this
Yes it would be possible you would just have to call those apps in your python script. I have various python scripts I have turned into probes and they call these files, they collect data where a nimsoft probe may not work or be possible.
I know about this probe but the issue is SNMP communication is not possible..
