Is anybody successfully using the nimsoft iPhone app? I can't find any documentation on it.
I would love to see that when ready shot even beta possibly.
The Nimsoft iPhone App is now live and freely available on the the App Store/iTunes.
The server/wasp side component and documentation is available on the "Downloads" section of http://support.nimsoft.com - under the category of "NimsoftMobile 1.0".
Thanks and let us know what you think!
I have the mobile app running fine in wasp hower I can't find the iphone app in intunes anywhere. I did not check yesterday but chaecked saturday and it was not there. At least not under a nimsoft or nimbus search of the app store.
Never mind I just did another search and it was there.
I have it working but one thing I have run into is that clicking the reports link crashes the app both on iphone and ipad. Also could you give some info on the dashboards as they don't display as a dashboard but more like a list. Alarm console is great.
In regards to the crashing of the app - you will need to contact Support there.
In regards to the dashboards - check the Admin Guide that was provided with the download. There are some things to be aware of in this first version:
Building Dashboards for NimsoftMobile:NimsoftMobile renders Dashboards as a single column. The following approaches will improve the viewing of Dashboards with Nimsoft Mobile:-Only use these widgets: charts, text, alarms, and gauges-Arrange Dashboard widgets in a single column; table columns appear as rows-Use Captions to add titles to widgets; use the captiontext field to name objects to ensure the caption and object appear together
Known Issues:-Image objects within a custom dashboard are not supported-Sliders and Numeric LED displays are not supported-Support for MySQL and Oracle is not yet available-Dashboard Widgets are only supported with QoS datasources – non-QoS datasources will display [UNKNOWN VALUE]-Permissions for Alarm Assign and Unassign are not enforced
Sounds good, for reports does it use the unifed reporter or what type of reports are displayed.
It shows standard QoS reports generated by the report_engine. Screen shot attached...
That might be it then since I don't use any reports from there besides dynamin ones.
I have installed and works great inside out internal LAN but am not able to get it working through the firewall. Still trying to figure that one out.
Must say Nimsoft has made a very good effort in the first release
Things I would like to see in future releases :
1) Auto -refresh of alarms
2) Sorting staying the same after a refresh
3) Alarms as Notifications
4) Notifications if you get an alert assigned to you
5) App running in the background with number of critical alerts showing up on the icon
Thanks for the valuable feedback - our Product Managers have received your suggestions!
Were you able to get the public IP sorted?
Not yet, still struggling with it. Its behind a ISA firewall.
The SDP works fine and i have added /mobile path to the firewall rule but no luck.
Are you using SDP - or UMP (next generation of our web portal)?
I *suspect* your firewall is blocking a necessary port to the web server - i.e. 8080 or some other one. I am not sure what the default port that is used is but I am checking...
From the App Admin Guide:
The Java Web Service interfaces with UDM to retrieve the data listed above. It then organizes the data in XML packets and returns it to the caller.
All Web Service calls are made through typical URL type requests to the web server. For example:
We are using the SDP which is inbulit in the UMP. so i can access the UMP by going to http://126.96.36.199 running on port 80.
I can also access the SDP at http://188.8.131.52/SDP
and the SDP works fine if i open port 80 and the /SDP path on the firewall.
So do you mean that /mobile works on port 8080?
No..It should all be going over the same port that you SD is - in this case port 80.
Can you check the AS access logs for rejects when you use the App?
I'm battling with the same issue. Did any of you get Nimsoft Mobile to work outside of your LAN? I've got port 443 open so we can log in to UMP from the outside, but cannot connect to Nimsoft Mobile even after opening both the http and ajp ports in the wasp setup as well as 8080 just to try it.
I had it working at 1 point in time but being it didn't provide very much useful information besides alerts I didn't touch if for the longest time and now I just tested and it don't work. My guess is one of the more recent upgrades broke it. I did see a demo of the new mobile app which should be out at the end of the month and it is much better.
Thanks, do you happen to have a link to the demo?
A couple of nimsoft people came on site and showed it there is not a actual demo out for it but it looked pretty nice more like USM for the most part.
The new Mobile App is now available in iTunes and the Play Store (for Android). It currently only covers alarms, and not reports/dashboards, but those are coming to the app in the near future.

No tablet support at this time only built for the phones.
