Is there a way to create a catch-all SNMP trap profile so that ANY trap that comes to the SNMPTD probe can be converted to an alarm?
Go here and find the Enterprises you would want to catch
Use the Enterprise ID with a wildcard * like below
!Make sure to start with a Period.
Thank you - but that didn't work for me. It won't let me put an * in the Trap Obect Identifier field of a new trap so there must be another field you're referring to. Can you tell me where that is?
See images of how i do this. You want to create a trap container starting with a Period down to the Enterprise level (Ex. .18.104.22.168.4.1.674. Is DELL ) Then you want to create a trap in that Trap Profile Container with the Specific Trap being an asterics *.
Wow, thank you for that!
I set up something similar, though instead of using the OID for Dell, I just put .1 in the field. Sadly that didn't work for me. Wouldn't that create an alarm for every trap that comes in as long as it starts with .1? Or maybe it doesn't work because there are already other trap containers that have more specific OIDs in them?
I havent tried it using that generic of one. I built one for all type of SNMP that could come in, like i know that i only have Dell, HP, Cisco etc. I do know that if you have a more specific profile setup that it will use that profile over the wildcarded ones. Also, for DELL and Compaq there are probes in the archive that will automatically add the pre-configured trap profiles. Cim_Traps is Compaq and Dom_Traps is Dell. It think what you are trying to do may be limited to the granularity of the Enterprise but below that probably can be * masked.
Is it possible to do the same for V2 traps also?
