UMP - WebContent Basic Authentication

We are noticing an issue with the UMP WebContent portlet and properly passing credentials in different web browsers when using basic authentication. For the four major browsers and iPhone here are the results.

Google Chrome: Credentials are passed and everything works properly!

Firefox 4: Asks for username and password – ignoring the credentials that are configured.

Internet Explorer: Just shows a blank page with empty HTML tags in the source.

Safari (on laptop): Tells me it’s a phishing site because the URL that it passes contains a username and password.

Safari (on iPhone): Tells me it’s a phishing site because the URL that it passes contains a username and password.

The backend web server is just an IIS server with basic authentication configured.

From any of these browsers if I go directly to the URL and provide the username and password I am able to correctly login and see the information. So all is good on the IIS server.

Has anyone else had any problems when using the authentication in the WebContent portlet?
