I am just wondering if anyone is using a cell phone to silence or accept alarms?
If your phone is flash capable then you can just use the ump alarm console.
sadly, no... just simple old text messages.
We do offer integration with a company called Attention Software. They provide a module that allows for event interaction via telephones and would be worth a look if you are interested.
Here is a good place to start if you are interested- let me know if you would like any further information:
Also - we have a native option called "mobile_panels".
It is a .NET application (you install IIS for it to run) - and it allows you to interact with WAP based, simplistic alarm lists and dashboards.
As long as your phone has a browser - this will do the trick (html only output).
Well if the notes_response probe is able to look at the mailbox and then launch a script I think I can do it that way. I don't know since I haven't installed that probe but, I am going to look today.
This is the #1 complaint for the on-call folks. I have the SDP where they can stop alarms but being able to responded to the text message would be even better.
Are you using the emailgtw/nas to email the alarms to the cell phones? Or are you using true text messaging with the smsgtw?
How are the text messages getting delivered to the phones is my question...
email/nas. It is my only option.
The Attention Software solution would be your best bet here. I have a contact @ Attention that can likely demo this for you against Nimsoft...
